May 2025: Seaman Apprentice Kendra Ugoretz
Cruiser Milwaukee Division – Shawano, Wisconsin
Cadet Kendra Ugoretz joined the U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps in May 2023 with a strong interest in military service that began in middle school. With the support of Cadet Guild and his father, Kendra and her family made the decision to join the program...and she has demonstrated outstanding commitment ever since.
Despite living several hours away in Shawano, Wisconsin, Cadet Ugoretz consistently traveled to Milwaukee for drill weekends, arriving on time, fully prepared, and eager to lead.
One of Kendra’s most memorable experiences was completing Recruit Training in summer 2023: “There’s nothing quite like earning a little more freedom while still holding strong to military bearing. The level of respect and camaraderie during those final days was unforgettable.”
Since joining, Cadet Ugoretz has:
-
Completed Recruit Training in Summer of 2023
-
Completed Cybersecurity Advanced Training in Summer 2024
-
Participated in numerous Color Guard events, including Brewers Military Appreciation Day and Memorial Day services
-
Earned the NLUS Youth Medal with a Silver Star, the Color Guard Ribbon, and a STEM Device for advanced training
-
Taken part in community service events and delivered Drug Demand Reduction (DDR) presentations to fellow cadets
-
Represented the division at the Wisconsin Warrior Challenge and achieved Level 3 Physical Readiness Test ratings
Outside of the Sea Cadets, Kendra enjoys working on cars, practices taekwondo, and plays soccer. After high school, she plans to pursue a career in either auto body painting or security.
Cadet Ugoretz embodies the values of honor, courage, and commitment. We are proud to recognize her as a shining example of the character and drive we strive to develop in every cadet.
